Our Beliefs
At New Prospect Missionary Baptist Church, our faith is rooted in the Word of God and guided by the teachings of Jesus Christ. We are committed to growing in faith, living according to God's Word, and sharing His love with others.
Our beliefs reflect the biblical principles that shape our worship, strengthen our fellowship, and guide our daily walk with Christ.
The True and Living God
We believe that there is one, and only one, true and living God, who is an infinite, life-giving Spirit. We believe that God has revealed Himself as one divine essence existing in three persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.
Scripture References: Matthew 28:19; John 10:30; John 1:1–10
The Holy Bible as Our Foundation
We believe that the Holy Bible is the inspired Word of God, written by human authors under divine inspiration. God is its ultimate author, salvation is its purpose, and truth without error is its message.
We believe that the Scriptures are the foundation of our Christian faith and serve as the ultimate authority for our beliefs, conduct, and practices at New Prospect Missionary Baptist Church.
Furthermore, we affirm that Holy Scripture is the foundation of our theology, and all other teachings and traditions are supplementary and secondary to the Word of God.
Scripture References: 2 Timothy 3:16; 1 Corinthians 15:1–4
The Fall of Man
We believe that God created humanity in holiness and fellowship with Him as part of His good creation. However, through disobedience, humanity fell from its original state of righteousness into sin.
As a result, sin entered the world and affected the entire human race, separating humanity from God and revealing our need for His grace, forgiveness, and redemption.
Scripture References: Ecclesiastes 7:29; Isaiah 53:6
The Way of Salvation
We believe that salvation is God's free gift of grace, made available to all who repent of their sins and place their faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
We believe that Jesus Christ, the sinless Lamb of God, willingly gave His life for the forgiveness of our sins so that all who believe in Him may receive salvation and the promise of eternal life.
We further believe that salvation is a personal decision, requiring each individual to confess Jesus Christ as Lord and believe in His death and resurrection.
Salvation is received by grace through faith, not by works, but through the redeeming love and mercy of God.
Scripture References: Romans 10:9; Ephesians 2:8
Baptism and the Lord's Supper
We believe that Christian baptism is the immersion of a believer in water in the name of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.
Baptism is an outward expression of an inward transformation, symbolizing the believer's identification with the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It represents a new life in Christ and a public declaration of faith.
We also believe that the Lord's Supper is a sacred observance instituted by Jesus Christ, through which believers remember His sacrifice on the cross, reflect upon His love, and proclaim His death until He comes again.
