Our Beliefs
The True and Living God
We believe that there is one, and only one, true and living God who is an infinite, life giving spirit. We moreover believe that God has disclosed himself to us as one essence and three persons - God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.
Matthew 28:19, John 10:30, John 1:1-10
The Holy Bible as Our Foundation
We believe that the Holy Bible is the Word of God and that it is written by man, but divinely inspired by God? as its author; pointing humans to salvation is its goal and it possesses truth without error in its content. It shall remain, until the end of the world, the true center of the Christian faith and the guiding documents or conduct and practice within this local church known as the New Prospect Missionary Baptist Church. Furthermore, we confess that Holy Scripture is the foundation for our theology; everything else is supplementary and secondary.
2 Timothy 3:16, I Corinthian 15:1-4
The Fall of Man
We believe that God made a good creation in holiness and prosperity and Man was included in that creation. Furthermore, Man fell from that happy and holy state into sin and has subjected the entire human race to total depravity.
Ecclesiastes 7:29, Isaiah 53:6
The Way of Salvation
We believe that salvation (deliverance from the power and effects of sin) is available to all who repent and believe in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. We further believe that Jesus is the Sinless Lamb of God who gave His life so that sinners might receive salvation and ultimately eternal life. Moreover, we believe that each sinner must confess and believe in Jesus Christ for themselves in order to receive the free gift of salvation. We also believe that Salvation comes to sinners by grace through faith.
Romans 10:9, Ephesians 2:8
Baptism and the Lord's Supper
We believe that the Scriptures teach that Christian Baptism is the immersion in water of a believer into the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We further believe that baptism by immersion symbolizes connecting with the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Matthew 28:19, Romans 6:4
